". . . earnestly genuine."

Just Don’t Fall: Authentic, brutal and inspiring story of courage, failure and small successes.

Joshua Sundquist was home-schooled in an evangelical Christian home. At the age of nine he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a destructive and aggressive bone cancer with a high mortality rate. Josh’s left leg was amputated at the hip joint when chemotherapy failed to arrest the tumor growing in his femur. Just Don’t Fall is the story of how he coped with his much changed life as he grew up.

Josh struggles and acts like a child even though he wants to be brave. At times, reading Sundquist’s story is like looking directly into the sun, and that, no doubt, is the point. Sundquist is a motivational speaker and tugging on the emotions is necessary to engaging the audience’s sympathy. The author has learned this technique and applied well.

That being said, Just Don’t Fall is honest, brutal at times, and unvarnished. However, Sundquist’s triumphant tale of facing adversity and earning success is worthwhile reading—if not for its literary qualities then for its simple and honest revelations. Courage, humility and sincerity are always worth reading about, and Just Don’t Fall has those in abundance. Josh Sundquist’s story is earnest and genuine.
