An Authorlink Exclusive AUDIO Interview with Steven Sherrill
Steven Sherill's third novel, The Locktender's House, was recently released from Random House. Told from a female point of view, the story follows Janice Witherspoon's life as it is abruptly upended by the death of her boyfriend fighting in in a war overseas. Fueled by shock and uncertainties, she packs up her belongings from their North Carolina apartment and takes to the road, planning to meet the soldier's body on its journey back home. But something steers Janice off course. The result is a story that treads the line between suspense and terror. Here, Steve talks with Authorlink about his persistent publishing journey, how he keeps himself from experiencing writer's block, and how he separates his writing from the publishing process. Steven, associate professor of English at Penn State Altoona, is also the author of Visits from the Drowned Girl, and The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break, which the New York Times calls "wise and ingenious."
