Random House
To Publish Spurlock’s
Book on Bin Laden

Morgan Spurlock, award-winning writer, producer and director of Super Size Me, will come to Random House for his new book, WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN?, it was announced today by Gina Centrello, President and Publisher of the Random House Publishing Group.

Spurlock’s documentary with the same title will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2008, and will release nationally in March. The book will be published simultaneously with the film. Random House Editorial Director Jennifer Hershey, who will edit the book, acquired world rights from Elyse Cheney. She was also Spurlock’s editor for Don’t Eat This Book, the work inspired by Super Size Me.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN? follows Spurlock employing his complete lack of experience, knowledge and expertise to set about finding the most wanted and dangerous man on earth. It is both an epic journeyfrom America, Britain and Europe to North Africa and the Middle Eastan an attempt to understand the roots of the conflict overshadowing the world today.

“We are so pleased to be involved with this long-awaited new project,” said Hershey. “Morgan Spurlock has a voice unlike anyone else, and comes to this subject with a totally fresh perspective, both serious and enormously funny at the same time.”

Super Size Me, in which Spurlock was both star and director, was one of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time, winning an Oscar nomination and Best Director awards at the Sundance and Edinburgh Film Festivals. It followed him as he ate nothing but food from McDonald’s for a month, as a way of exploring the effect of fast food on the health of Americans.

UK rights to WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN? have been sold in a pre-empt to Harvill Secker.
