NAMED PRESIDENT

Of S&S CANADA

New York/Toronto/07/11/05—Kevin Hanson has been named President of Simon & Schuster Canada, it was announced today. Mr. Hanson will begin his new position on August 2, reporting to Larry Norton, President of the Simon & Schuster Sales and Distribution Division, who made the announcement.

In his position, Mr. Hanson will have responsibility for all the sales, marketing, financial and operations activities of Simon & Schuster Canada, which is the exclusive distributor in Canada of the book and audio products of both Simon & Schuster and Simon & Schuster U.K, as well as for Simon & Schuster’s roster of U.S. distribution clients. In addition, Mr. Hanson will be a member of the Simon & Schuster Executive Committee, and will report to Simon & Schuster President and CEO Jack Romanos on corporate business affairs.

Mr. Hanson comes to Simon & Schuster from HarperCollins Books of Canada, where he has been Vice President, Sales and Marketing since 2002. He had previously held senior executive positions at other leading Canadian publishing companies including Chief Operating Officer of Madison Press Books and Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Penguin Books Canada.

“In the last few years we have repositioned Simon & Schuster Canada as a sales and marketing company that, while using the entire support and resources that the larger Simon & Schuster can offer, does a great job representing us in the growing Canadian marketplace,” said Jack Romanos. “With this transition period complete, Kevin Hanson is a publishing veteran and sales and marketing executive who we believe will hit the ground running and take Simon & Schuster Canada to even greater levels of performance.”

Mr. Hanson, 41, is a 1985 graduate of the University of Alberta, and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto. He has served as director and instructor at the Simon Fraser Book Publishing Workshop. He lives in Toronto.

Mr. Hanson succeeds Deb Woods, who recently resigned from her position as President of Simon & Schuster Canada.
