Book Critics Post Reviews of Award Finalists

The National Book Critics Circle has begun posting mini reviews of all of its finalists for the NBCC book awards which will be announces on March 11 in New York City. The organization will have posted 30 books in the30 days leading up to the event. A list of finalists is posted on the NBCC site, including five nominees in six categories. The nominees appear in random order.

The centerpiece of NBCC activities is the annual awards for the best book in six categories: autobiography, biography, criticism, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

The NBCC Awards Ceremony for the 2009 NBCC winners will take place at 7:00 p.m. March 11, 2010 in The New School University’s Tishman Auditorium, 66 W. 12th St., New York City. The event is free and open to the public.

The National Book Critics Circle, founded in 1974, is a nonprofit organization consisting of more than 600 active book reviewers who are interested in honoring quality writing and communicating with one another about common concerns.

In recent years, the NBCC has made efforts to become a truly national organization by offering forums in locations nationwide. The organization looks to the web to help extend the intelligent discussion of books across the nation.
