Named President

and CEO of Bowker

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ/4/18/06—Annie Callanan, a seasoned executive who has successfully led a number of business-to-business media companies, has been named the new president and chief executive officer of Bowker, the global leader in bibliographic information management. Callanan had most recently served as executive vice president of Advanstar Communications’ Life Sciences Group, a 300-person healthcare publishing organization comprised of 26 clinical and industry journals, 39 professional conferences, a continuing education business and a Web services division.

Before joining Advanstar, Callanan was senior vice president of a $300 million business technology media portfolio at CMP Media, where she was responsible for the operations of such well-known media brands as the Information Week and Network Computing magazines and the PC EXPO trade show. She also previously oversaw the publishing, trade show and electronic publishing divisions for Miller Freeman, where she marketed information technology to businesses in the education and financial services sectors.

Callanan earned her bachelor of arts and bachelor of fine arts degrees in English and art history from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and also holds an MBA in finance from New York University.

“Annie brings with her an extraordinary background in the media industry, with a proven track record of successfully managing the development, marketing and distribution of information technology solutions to business and educational audiences,” said Andrew Snyder, president of Cambridge Information Group, Bowker’s parent company. “As Bowker continues to develop new technology-driven information services for our customers in both the publishing/retail and library divisions of the company, Annie’s industry experience and business leadership skills will be a tremendous asset.”

“I am privileged to be joining such an outstanding team, and the rich heritage of this esteemed organization at a time when the challenges and opportunities for the publishing and library professions, in their quest for discovery, organization and communication of knowledge, have never been greater,” added Callanan. Callanan replaces Michael Cairns, who stepped down as president of Bowker in January.
