LOS ANGELES, CA/10/2/06—The DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books will kickoff its Sat. Oct. 7 show at the historic Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Ave in New York.

Tickets are on sale at www.diyconvention.com for the event focused on creating, promoting, protecting and distributing independent film, music and books. The day-long event, which includes DIY Film Festival screenings, will be followed by an after-party at Arlene’s Grocery featuring music from DIY Music Festival entrants.

Keynote speaker Jeff Price has been part of the cutting edge for the last two decades. As GM / President of the New York-based independent record label spinART, he helped distribute such artists as Frank Black, You Am I, The Pixies, John Doe, Apples In Stereo, Vic Chesnutt, Jason Falkner, Richard Thompson and many more music luminaries. The label was among the first to offer its catalog via MP3 for paid downloads.

Price has now further immersed himself in the digital realm as CEO of TuneCore, a new service that allows artists to gain access to the channels of music distribution while keeping control of all of their rights, their masters and 100% of the money from the sale of their music. Artists can monitor how their music is selling and get their money the moment it becomes available.

He will discuss his new service and other facets of digital distribution as part of the program.

Performance and screening slots for the 2007 DIY Music Festival and 2007 DIY Film Festival are being accepted until Jan. 25, 2007. Interested artists can register online at www.diyconvention.com or call the DIY offices at 323-665-8080 with a credit card.
