Princess Di Photo Book to Mark

Seventh anniversary of Her Death

LONDON/10/20/03—HarperCollinsUK has offered a high six-figure deal for an authorized book of Princess Diana’s photographs. The coffee table book, called, Diana: The Portrait, is the only book authorized by the late Princess’s estate and by the Diana, Princess of Wales, Memorial Trust.

The UK rights were acquired by Trevor Dolby, MD of HarperEntertainment. and US rights were bought by Andrews McMeel Publishing. The book will be published in Australia and New Zealand by Hodder Headline; in France by Hachette, and by Knesebeck the German.

The Portrait, to be released in September 2004 on the seventh anniversary of Diana’s death in an auto accident, will contain 200 interviews with family and friends and some 100 never-before-published photos. The initial press run will be 250,000 copies.

Diana’s sister Lady Sarah McCoquodale will write the introduction, and Nelson Mandela will write the foreword. The book’s text will be written by Ros Coward, who has ties to the estate trustees.
