NORWALK, CT/1/24/07—BookExpo America has just gone “live” with a newly redesigned website that convention officials say will more accurately reflect, as well as enhance, the actual convention experience. Organizers note that the new website is designed to facilitate communication and networking within the industry, key elements of the convention-going experience that provide both value and service to all participants. The website went live on Friday, January 19 and is fully operational at www.bookexpoamerica.com .

“Our goal in creating BEA’s new web presence is so that we may serve as a more effective year-round tool in building relationships,” notes Lance Fensterman, Event Director for BEA. “My vision for BEA on the web is to create a platform that extends the reach and relevance of BookExpo America well beyond 3 days in June. Added features such as social networking, dedicated web pages to key attendee groups, and an ever expanding podcasting program are examples or our commitment to serve our industry in new and evolving ways.”

New features which are introduced on the website include: New image and branding. A new look for BEA which reflects its global reach. Navigation tools which are clean, smart and easy to use. This will enable users to register, search, interact and navigate easier and more intuitively. Headlines from industry leading trade publications. BEA aims to create a one-stop clearinghouse of industry information and greater access to the many great news sources in our industry. BEA Show Director’s Blog. A unique perspective on the book world from the bookseller who became a BEA leader. With Blackberry in hand, expect dispatches from around the world! Expanded and comprehensive podcast program including industry events and streaming video. An interactive component to BEA to enhance and expand dissemination beyond the show dates – a BEA without walls! My BEA, an online social networking platform that offers attendees, exhibitors, speakers and press an opportunity to create a personalized show experience. A few features of My BEA include networking, appointment setting, creating a personalized schedule, job boards, and message boards. My BEA will be available to all pre-registered BEA attendees the first week of April on www.bookexpoamerica.com BEA Story Project—coming soon—an interactive posting board where you can tell your own BEA story. Did you meet your wife? Lose your mind? Get stranded at the airport and end up talking with Gore Vidal? Tell us. Both text and audio capability will be offered to share your BEA story. BEA Chinese Website—coming soon—a link to a dedicated website tailored specifically to BEA’s Chinese visitors. Text on the website will be in both English and Chinese.
