August, 2019–Amazon has landed the competitive bid to develop a script-to-series drama based on the Jack Reacher character from Lee Child’s New York Times bestselling thrillers.
Scorpion creator Nick Santora will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner for the series. The project will be a co-production of Amazon Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television. Airdates have not yet been announced for the TV series. Child’s Jack Reacher is a billion-dollar brand published in 49 languages and 101 territories. With more than 100 million books sold, the series has commanded over a billion dollars in global sales. At least two of Child’s books have already been adapted to the big screen. Most recently completed as a movie was NEVER GO BACK (2016) derived from Child’s 2012 book by the same name.

According to a listing on IMDB.com (April 2019), Child is also working on a true-crime TV series which depicts the stories of real-life men and women from around the world who have been driven to stand up and put their lives on the line, fighting for justice in the face of great danger. No other information is yet available.

I feel it was unwise for Child to adopt the criticism of Cruise’s portryal. It was the screen writing and direction that failed those movies, not Cruise. Honestly, as a fan, I think Cruise nailed the brooding of Reacher and I wa sin no way concerned that he was hulking masses of muscle. While this is an attribute of Reacher, it is not what makes him great. His fighting and mystery solving skills are what make him great.
What a shame Tom Cruise will not be doing another Jack Reacher movie my family and I loved him in the 2 he has done. His height has nothing to do with his being a terrific actor. The person who criticized him was just jealous.
Not sure I will watch the tv series.
