November 12 – November 19, 2009 Edition Google Settlement Revisions Delayed

New York, NY (Authorlink News, November 12, 2009)—Lawyers for the Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers in the Google Book Search settlement case have been granted a request to move the deadline for submitting settlement revisions from November 9 to November 13. Authors Guild Attorney Michael Boni said in a letter of request to Judge Denny Chin that “The parties have been in discussions with the Department of Justice both prior to and since the October 7 status conference. We met with the Department as recently as this past Friday, November 6. In light of the above, the parties respectfully request this additional time to file the motion.” Chin granted the motion.

The AAP and Guild were due to file an amended agreement in the Google settlement on November 9, to specifically include changes aimed at answering concerns by the Department of Justice and other who have opposed the agreement. A final hearing is scheduled in early January.
