Bookstores Report
Sales Increases
For November
WASHINGTON, DC/1/14/08–The U.S. Census Bureau reported that book sales rose 7.5% in November 2007 to $1.19 billion, compared to more modest overall retail sales gains of 6.7% that month.
The upward gain helped put bookstore sales in the black for the first 11 months, up 0.8% to $14.65 billion. The positive numbers were welcomed news, after five straight declining months from January to May.
