All great chefs have their secrets. Some are delicious, and some are deadly, as we learn in Basil Instinct. Edgar Award-nominated author Shelley Costa’s second book in her Miracolo Restaurant mystery series, is a delightful summer read just out from Pocket Books/Simon & Schuster.

She discusses the craft of writing as a source of deep happiness, and advises authors to “stay open” to new ways to think about their work. She also gives us a look into the story line for Basil Instinct, where there are plenty of “crazies in waiting.”
