PW Retracts
Story of AP Book
Review Shutdown

NEW YORK, NY/10/2/07–Publishers Weekly has retracted a story it ran on 9/27 reporting that the Associated Press was discontinuing its book review package. PW ran a correction on 9/28 explaining that it had quoted an old story of February 2, 2007 from Editor & Publisher, stating that AP would no longer publish book reviews. The story was incorrect.

The AP continues to publish reviews and publishing stories, the retraction said. Paul Colford, director of media relations for the AP, said the organization is distributing more reviews than ever. “There are actually more book reviews now being published, distributed and circulated by the Associated Press now than previously,” Colford emphasized.
