June 1-15, 2004 Edition PEOPLE S&S Associate Publisher Heads to Taunton Press

NEW YORK, NY/05/23/04—Melissa Possick, associate publisher of Simon & Schuster, is departing in June to join the marketing group at Taunton Press. Aileen Boyle, S&S director of publicity, and Deb Darrock, national accounts director, will succeed Possick as associate publishers.

Berkley’s Waltemeyer Joins Book Ends

05/24/04—Kim Waltemeyer, longtime editor at Berkley Publishing Group has joined the New York-based literary agency, Bookends.

BookEnds, LLC, is a literary agency cofounded by Jessica Faust and Jacky Sach. Originally started in 1999 as a book packaging company, BookEnds now operates primarily as a literary agency focusing on fiction and nonfiction books for adult audiences.

Elken Named eWeek Associate Publisher

NEW YORK, NY/05/18/04—Ziff Davis Media Inc. has promtoed Karl Elken to National Associate Publisher of eWEEK, “the enterprise newsweekly.” He was previously West Coast Associate Publisher. In his new position, Mr. Elken will develop the publication’s integrated marketing and sales strategy as well as manage the entire sales force. He will be based in New York City and will continue to report to Chris Dobbrow, Publisher of eWEEK.

Mr. Elken, who has been with eWEEK since 2001, has helped grow the publication, developing integrated marketing programs that span print, custom publishing and online events. As part of the publication’s senior management team, he was instrumental in creating eWEEK’s new look and format which debuted in April 2003.
