NEW YORK, NY/02/01/05Susan Mercandetti, Senior Acquisitions Editor for Miramax Books, will join the editorial staff of the Random House Publishing Group, a division of Random House, Inc., on April 4 as Senior Editor. The appointment was announced today by Jonathan Karp, Editor-in-Chief of the publishing divisions Random House imprints, to whom she will report.
At Miramax , which she joined at its inception in 2000, Ms. Mercandetti acquired a number of bestselling books, including Leadership, by Rudy Giuliani; Ice Bound, by Jerri Neilsen; Big Russ and Me, by Tim Russert, and Leap of Faith, by Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan.
Susan Mercandetti has proven that she has an eye for talent, a nose for great stories, and an ear for whats relevant to the national conversation, said Jonathan Karp. She is a superb addition to Random Houses editorial staff. Ms. Mercandetti will acquire nonfiction of wide-ranging topical interest.
Before joining Miramax, Ms. Mercandetti was editor-at-large for The New Yorker and Washington editor of Vanity Fair under Tina Brown. Previously, she spent nearly two decades as a television producer with ABC News Nightline and other ABC shows, after which she launched an independent production company with Ted Koppel..
Before her work in television, she was press aide to former Senator Ed Brooke from Massachusetts and editor of the White House News Summary under President Gerald R. Ford.
