To Highlight Conference

On Changes in Publishing

SAN JOSE, CA/6/14/07–Technology is transforming publishing– from the way ideas are generated to the packaging of information and delivery of products. For publishers, these shifts are taking place so rapidly that it’s challenging to keep current–let alone create new, profitable opportunities. O’Reilly Media is launching its first Tools of Change for Publishing (TOC) Conference June 18-20, 2007 to raise the level of technology knowledge and discourse among book publishers and to spark conversation and creativity for leading change.

The TOC Conference, to be held in San Jose, California, will provide hands-on workshops, analysis, and intensive sessions for book publishers. Among a long list of speakers are Kelly Gallagher, general manager for the Business Intelligence Unit at Bowker; Michael Healy, executive director of the Book Industry Study Group; John Ingram, chairman of Ingram Book Group; Kurt Beidler, Senior Manager of business development at Amazon.com; James Lichtenberg, president of Lightspeed and chair of BISG’s RFID Working Group; Brian Murray, group president of HarperCollins; Tim O’Reilly, founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media; and Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail; Bruce Chizen, CEO, Adobe Systems; Kevin Larson is a researcher on Microsoft’s Advanced Reading Technologies team.
