Libby McGuire has been named Senior Vice President and Publisher of the Atria Publishing Group, effective April 30, it was announced today by Jonathan Karp, President of Simon & Schuster Adult Publishing, to whom Ms. McGuire will report.
Ms. McGuire will have full responsibility for all the publishing, editorial, publicity, marketing, and other functions and activities of the Atria Group.
Ms. McGuire comes to Atria from The Gernert Company, where she has been a literary agent since 2017. Prior to that, Ms. McGuire was Executive Vice President and Publisher of Ballantine Bantam Dell, a division of Penguin Random House, where she had worked in various positions for sixteen years.

At Ballantine Bantam Dell, Ms. McGuire oversaw the publication annually of a list heavy with New York Times bestsellers, in fiction and nonfiction, from both new and established authors, and published the first Pulitzer Prize–winning book in Bantam’s history, TOMS RIVER by Dan Fagin.
Notable and bestselling authors published under Ms. McGuire’s direction include Lee Child, Daniel Coyle, Rocco DiSpirito, Janet Evanovich, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Emily Giffin, Ashley Judd, Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz, Debbie Macomber, Jodi Picoult, Leah Remini, Jenny Sanford, and Danielle Steel, and her group made breakout bestsellers of sophisticated popular fiction titles such as LOVING FRANK by Nancy Horan, THE PARIS WIFE by Paula McLain, DEFENDING JACOB by William Landay, and THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Before joining Random House in 2000, Ms. McGuire was a national accounts manager at Simon & Schuster, and prior to that held various positions in sales and marketing at HarperCollins. Ms. McGuire is a graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She lives in New York.
