Bravo Acquires
Emmy-Winning Series
Taxicab Confessions
NEW YORK, NY/1/2/2007Bravo last week announced the acquisition of nine episodes of the Emmy Award-winning docu-drama series Taxicab Confessions in a deal with HBO. The announcement was made December 27 by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President, Programming and Production, Bravo. The critically-acclaimed, one-hour series made its basic cable premiere on Bravo, Friday, December 29 with three back-to-back episodes, followed by a New Year’s Eve marathon and a fourth original episode, Sunday, December 31.
Taxicab Confessions was ground-breaking as one of the original reality series, said Berwick. “This award-winning show was raw, moving and shocking while at the same time poignant in its portrayal of urban lifestyles.”
Using hidden lipstick cameras, Taxicab Confessions allowed viewers to watch as unsuspecting taxicab passengers unveiled their most vulnerable sides, revealing stories of love, life and loss. The series struck a chord with viewers and critics alike and became a pop culture phenomenon. The first episode originally aired on HBO in 1995 and went on to win the Emmy award for Outstanding Informational Special.
Voyeuristic and always curious, Taxicab Confessions demonstrates that the lives of real people are far more interesting than fiction. Memorable rides from Bravo’s upcoming episodes include a French cabaret singer who’s determined to be a survivor; a veteran pilot of the Spanish Civil War who remembers losing his best friend; and a pair of female strippers in love headed for a drive-thru wedding.
