Soho Press
To Launch
Mystery Imprint

NEW YORK, NY/1/8/08–Soho Press is launching a new mystery imprint, Soho Constable, in April 2008. The small New York house will publish U.S. editions from U.K.publisher, Constable & Robinson. Among the British authors coming to Soho are Barbara Cleverly, Roerta Kray, and R.T Raichev. The Constable list will include new titles by the writers. Some have been published earlier in the US by Carroll & Graf, but the Soho titles will be new works with print runs of 3,000 to 10,000.

Laura Hruska, editor-in-chief, reportedly plans to publish a substantial list each season. The second round of titles will include nine titles. Among Soho Constable titles will be some classic mysteries by authors such as Peter Lovesey.

In December 2007, Soho released its first mystery by acclaimed author Eliot Pattison, Prayer of the Dragon. The title has been highly praised by The New York Times, the Washington Post, and The Denver Post. The book has also been named among the top mysteries of 2007 by Mysterious Reviews. Prayer, set in Tibet, is the fifth Edgar Award winning book in Pattison’s series. The Constable launch list will include Reconstruction by Mick Herron (February 2008) and The Rough Collier by Pat McIntosh (May 2008).
