Winds Down in Spain

BOLOGNA/Authorlink News/03/26/09—The 2009 Bologna Children’s Book Fair winds down today after four days of exhibitions in Bologna, Spain. Approximately 1,300 exhibitors (1,200 foreign) attended the March 23-26 event from 66 countries.

 

The global event, one of the most important of the year for children’s book publishers, included books and multimedia for children, an exhibition of children’s book illustrators, a literary agent’s centre and a film/TV licensing center.

 

A highlight of the event was the Bologna Ragazzi Award for 2009, which rewards the best gooks in terms of graphic and editorial design. In 2009, alongside the three traditional categories of Fiction, Non-Fiction and New Horizons, there is also be a new permanent section called Opera Prima, dedicated to artists' first works. The aim of the initiative is to seek fresh editorial material and innovative projects. Names of the winners and actual attendance were not immediately available. Web site: www.bolognafiere.it
