Author Solutions Inks Deal With Barnes & Noble

BLOOMINGTON, IN/AUTHORLINK NEWS/03/02/10–Barnes & Noble has agreed to make all self published titles from Author Solutions, Inc . available in its online store, http://www.barnesandnoble.com, and on its e-book reader, nookT.

In a move that directly competes with Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble has included all four ASI imprints–Author House, iUniverse, Trafford Publishing, and Xlibris.

“The increasing popularity of e-books is leveling the playing field for emerging authors, and Barnes & Noble is a leading distributor of books in these formats,” said Kevin Weiss, ASI president and chief executive officer. “No longer is it a battle for limited shelf space in a brick-and-mortar store. New authors can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with ‘superstar’ authors and have their works available to anyone.”

A default price of $9.99 will be set for every title, but each author will have the opportunity to set his or her own price. E-book distribution through bn.com and nookT will be included as a free service for all new black-and-white ASI titles.

Author Solutions, Inc. (ASI) is owned by Bertram Capital and bills itself as the world leader in indie book publishing.

Headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana, ASI also operates offices in Indianapolis and Milton Keynes, England.
