The daughters of the Wednesday sisters, Hope, Julie and Anna Paige were predestined to be friends. This younger generation known as the Wednesday daughters grew up as close as most families and was just as involved in each other’s lives. When Hope’s mother Ally passed away, the Wednesday daughters traveled with Hope to England’s Lake District to Ally’s cottage, the place where she spent her time researching Beatrix Potter for the book she was writing of the author’s life.

Hope’s grief is interrupted when Graham, a native to the Lake District and England surprises the girls as he enters the cottage looking for Ally. Confused by Graham’s response to Ally’s death Hope wonders if Graham is her mother’s lover. Hope remains guarded with Graham until she learns the truth of who he is and how he knew her mother. Once out in the open, Graham’s story supplied many answers to the questions that Hope knew had plagued her mother for many years.

The Wednesday Daughters is a story of relationships, secrets and healing. Meg Waite Clayton’s words takes the reader to the shore of England’s Lake District where she creatively brings the landscape to life. Unfolding the history of the area with the struggles of the characters, Clayton delivers a story for readers to easily relate with and enjoy.
