The Babel brand of fashionable sustainable clothing is renowned worldwide. Now its CEO Odelia Babel has returned to one of her favorite places on Earth, the Leopard Sands safari park in South Africa, to get married. Even though her fiance, fashion designer Asher Bach is twenty-five years Odelia’s junior, he’s deeply in love with her. She has summoned her family around her to witness the ceremony. Her adult children, her daughter-in-law, her grandchild, and her best friend. Everything appears set for the perfect experience—but beneath the fun and games the African resort is a dark and deadly place.

The glamour and the thrills of seeing African wildlife up close don’t hide the fierce tensions within the family and its associates. The morning after Odelia’s big argument with her son Sam sees her lying dead in the bush, her body picked over by vultures. Sam has an alibi, but the person who can bear witness for him has vanished. As the temperatures rise so do the tensions. It’s soon obvious whoever killed Odelia hasn’t finished yet. The Babel family has to contend with the knowledge that a ruthless killer is in their midst—and negotiating their various treacheries and alliances to identify the killer may prove too late…

The Safari is a twisty murder mystery in the evocative setting of the African bush. Goldis has created a dark novel where nobody is as they seems and all have their secrets and agendas. If it has a fault it’s that none of the characters are likable, making it hard to identify with their situations.
