Most people hate conflict of any kind, yet difficult situations are inevitable. In her book, CHANGING THE CONVERSATION, conflict expert Dana Caspersen offers 17 ways to resolve a dispute by simply changing what is said, and how.

From Joost Elffers, the packaging genius behind the huge New York Times bestsellers The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, and The 33 Strategies of War, comes an essential guide for turning any conflict into an opportunity for growth and understanding.

In this audio interview, author Dana Caspersen talks to Authorlink about her motivations for writing the book, how she developed the 17 principles, and offers a few examples of the principles we’ll read in the book.

CHANGING THE CONVERSATION lays out key principles to follow when faced with a difficult situation. Principles such as “talk to the other person’s best self,” “assume useful dialogue is possible, even when it seems unlikely,” and “expect and plan for future conflict” offer invaluable signposts for people seeking an effective path to resolution in the heat of a conflict. Presented in eye-catching red-and-black graphics, each step is carefully explained and followed by real-life examples and opportunities to practice.

The guide is designed to help the reader move beyond the destructive and often endless cycle of attack and counter-attack, Whether facing a conflict at home, in a relationship, in the workplace, or out in the world, CHANGING THE CONVERSATION is a valuable tool, filled with real-life examples, hands-on exercises, and advice. The book is ideal for educators, counselors, workplace managers, and anyone wanting to promote productive dialogue and long-lasting solutions in conflict situations.
