Authenticity means undisputed, original, and (sometimes) real. Write and live in a way that is true to yourself, your values, beliefs and personality. Like it or not, your own truths bleed through writing. When those truths are universal (if they resonate with the intended audience) they tap into feelings. Authenticity is not necessarily the same as being real. You may choose to build a character who directly opposes your personal values while remaining authentic to yourself. In fact, knowing who you are enables you to write more effectively about the way you see others. To write authentically you must first know your own inner self.
All writing is about avoiding suffering and making human connections. AI can compute, compile, summarize, analyze and mimic biological human behavior. But it cannot “be” human; it cannot “originate”thought and values and feelings. It cannot suffer (at least not yet).
We are all using AI these days whether consciously or coercively. The trick is to intentionally and responsibly use AI as a tool rather than a replacement for human ingenuity. Thus, you will have a better chance to connect with humans. They are still out there.
