NEW YORK, NY/9/16/03—Simon & Schuster is looking for a buyer for its Simon & Schuster Interactive division, which develops materials for video games and creates CD-ROM products. The unit, which was founded in the 1990’s, is being sold off because it is outside of the company’s core operation.
S&SI will complete projects now under development, but will not acquire any new products. Some staff have been laid off, but the new media president and publisher Giles Dana will stay to oversee remaining titles and to conclude the unit’s sale.
S&S, among the few publishers who still produce multimedia products, has more than 100 titles in its interactive division.
