Rodale Names Crespi

President of International Unit

EMMAUS, PA/ 1/12/04—Giannia Crespi has been named president of Rodale International, reporting to Steve Murphy. In the newly-created position, Crespi will oversee all of Rodale’s operations outside of North America. The family-owned parent company, Rodale, Inc. is headquartered in Emmaus, PA and has international offices in London and Milan, where Crespi is from. He is the former managing director of the Italian media group Instituto Geografico de Agostini.

The company’s book unit publishes some 100 new titles a year and has a catalog of more than 500 books on subjects such as cooking, health, and nature that it markets through retail and direct marketing channels. Rodale also has an international book publishing division based in London. In addition, the company operates about a dozen Web sites. The family-owned company has had recent success with its mega-bestseller The South Beach Diet and its leading men’s magazine, Men’s Health.

Another bestseller may be about to emerge in, My Prison Without Bars, by baseball’s Pete Rose. Though sales figures have not yet been updated, editor Jeremy Katz says Rodale expects the book to be a bestseller in the coming weeks.
