May 24 – May 30, 2010 Edition Barbara Streisand Among Penguin Headliners at Book Expo

New York, New York/Authorlink News/May 25, 2010–David Shanks, CEO, Penguin Group (USA), Barbra Streisand, the legendary actress, singer and director, and William Gibson, New York Times bestselling Putnam author, are headlining major events at this year’s Book Expo America (BEA), which takes place this week, May 25th – 27th, at the Jacob Javits Center in New York.

Mr. Shanks will be a featured speaker on the “CEO Panel,” which kicks off BEA, Tuesday, May 25th, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in the Special Events Hall. The subject of the discussion is “the Value of a Book” and he will join fellow publishing industry leaders to address this timely topic.

Barbra Streisand, the legendary actress, singer, and director, will appear at this year’s BEA Opening Night, Tuesday, May 25th. She will be interviewed by Gayle King, Editor-At-Large of O, The Oprah Magazine, special correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show and Good Morning America, and host of The Gayle King Show on Oprah & Friends XM Satellite Network. Ms. King will talk to Ms. Streisand about her new book, My Passion for Design, filled with gorgeous photographs of her homes and collections.

William Gibson, the iconic New York Times-bestselling author, is featured at the BEA Book & Author Luncheon, Wednesday, May 27th, 12 noon – 2:00 in the Special Events Hall. He will offer insights into his upcoming book, Zero History, which will be published by G. P. Putnam’s Sons on September 7, 2010.

Penguin Group (USA)’s 2010 list represents one of its strongest, most diverse lists ever. Penguin is celebrating its 75th anniversary this month.
