Stacey Barney Appointed Editor at Putnam Books

Stacey Barney has been appointed Editor at Putnam Books for Young Readers it was announced today by Nancy Paulsen, President and Publisher, Putnam Books for Young Readers.

Ms. Paulsen commented, “We are thrilled to be welcoming Stacey Barney to our editorial team. With her broad life and publishing experience – from teaching middle-grade and high school students to launching a Young Adult African American imprint at Kensington Books – we know she is poised to contribute greatly as we expand our list of popular, literary fiction.”

Ms. Barney comes to Putnam Books for Young Readers with a wide array of experience in adult and children’s trade publishing, having held editorial posts at Farrar, Straus & Giroux, HarperCollins and most recently with Dafina/Kensington Books, where she launched a Young Adult program with the title series DRAMA HIGH, filling a great void in the young adult market for African American readers. Ms. Barney has also worked with bestselling teen Christian author Stephanie Perry Moore and promising newcomers Paula Chase Hyman (So Not the Drama) and Nia Stephens (Boy Shopping), who have books due out in the spring. She is a graduate of Temple University and received her MA from Emerson College.
