Rowman & Littlefield

Agrees to Buy Bankrupt

UK Distributor

LONDON/11/7/03—The Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group Inc. and its sister company National Book Network will acquire some of the assets of bankrupt UK distributor Plymbridge in a deal expected to close before the end of the month. Several groups must approve the sale before it becomes final.

Plymbridge is the distributor for Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group and for more than 100 independent publishers and is apparently heavily indebted to the publisher. Rowman & Littlefield and National Book Network reporteldy took the unexpected move as their best financial option.

The deal, if completed, would enable Plymbridge to offer NBN’s US customers distribution in the UK and Europe.
