Names Liz Perl

As Publisher

NEW YORK, NY/08/22/05—Liz Perl, former Penguin Group vice president and associate publisher, has been named vice president and publisher of Rodale Books, it was announced by Tami Booth Corwin, president. Rodale has been the leading publisher of information on healthy, active lifestyles for more than 60 years.

Ms. Perl will begin her new job on September 12, and will be located in the company’s New York office. Headquarters are in Emmaus, PA. She will be responsible for the daily publishing operations of the book group, including promotion and marketing. She will also help shape the Rodale list through acquisitions support. She will develop promotional and marketing

In other moves, the company promoted Cindy Ratzlaff to the newly created post of vice president, brand marketing for Rodale. Margot Schupf was elevated to the new position of vice president and editorial director of lifestyle books and media.

Perl joined Penguin Group in 1994, most recently serving as head of the Riverhead, Perigee, HP Books, Portfolio and Sentinel imprints at Penguin.

Earlier in her career, she served as director of marketing and executive director of publicity for The Berkley Publishing Group and The New American Library.

Among a number of bestsellers, which she helped acquire and release, are The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, It’s not about the Bike, by Lance Armstrong, and Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson, M.D.
