Goodkinds Sword
For Film Release
NEW YORK, NY/8/1/06—Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series has locked up a film option for the entire series with famed director Sam Raimi, best known for his Spider-Man franchise, and Raimi’s partner Joshua Donen.
Goodkind’s bestselling sci-fi novels, published by Tor Books, have not yet come to the screen, but this deal “felt right” Goodkind has told the media. Goodkind currently has ten novels in print and will release his 11th and final work in the Sword of Truth series in 2008. He also plans to develop the novels into a TV mini-series with Raimi, who became known in 1981 for his horror spoof Evil Dead.
Raimi is already set to begin production on Goodkind’s first book, Wizard’s First Rule, within the next year, but no definitive dates have been set for completion of the mini-series.
