PN Managing Director Skyes To Step Down
LONDON/7/30/07–Publishing News Ltd today announced the resignation of its Managing Director Angela Sykes. During her six years at the helm, Sykes has overseen the successful relaunch of the magazine and the consolidation of the British Book Awards, now televised annually by Channel Four and, as from this year, sponsored by Galaxy.
“I’ve had a fantastic, exciting career at Publishing News and have enjoyed being part of its development. Having started off in the advertising and then production departments it was a great moment when I was given full management responsibility across the company. We’ve achieved so much — not least in the phenomenal growth of the British Book Awards and also taking PN into the digital age with the launch of complementary online services. But, now I feel the moment has come for new challenges and opportunities. While at Publishing News I have been in the fortunate position of seeing the whole trade and how it all works together, I love the publishing industry and those who work within it — I have had a great twenty years and am looking forward to the next twenty!"
Publishing News LTD Chairman, Fred Newman paid tribute to Angela Sykes’s contribution to the firm: “While I appreciate and understand Angela’s decision, I very much regret that she is to leave us. Angela has played a vital role over so many years in the growth and success of the company, and as Managing Director has carried much of the weight of steering PN LTD through a challenging period in a changing marketplace.
"We will miss her, and her departure will leave a gap that will be difficult to fill. On behalf of everyone at PN, I wish her well in whatever future role she takes up.”
Angela Sykes will continue her full responsibilities until 31st August.
