Names New Publisher of Puffin Books
NEW YORK, NY/2/2/04—Doug Whiteman, President of Penguin Young Readers Group, today announced that Eileen Bishop Kreit has been named Vice President and Publisher of Puffin Books, effective February 23rd.
Mr. Whiteman commented, “I am especially proud to be making this announcement because Eileen has worked for me since the early stages of her career. I know that she will succeed in this new position, as she has succeeded in all her previous roles at Penguin Young Readers Group.”
Ms. Bishop Kreit has worked at Penguin Young Readers Group in various sales capacities since 1990. She has been part of the Children’s Sales Management team since 1998, most recently as Director of National Accounts. Ms. Bishop Kreit’s unique knowledge of Penguin Young Readers books, authors, and the marketplace give her particularly strong qualifications to lead Puffin Books, which includes bestselling titles by such award-winning authors as Judy Blume, Roal Dahl, Paula Danzinger, S.E. Hinton and Mildred D. Taylor.
Ms. Bishop Kreit succeeds longtime Puffin Publisher Tracy Tang, whose departure to spend more time with her family and pursue other interests was announced last month.
