NOOK Media LLC, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), has appointed two senior executives to its leadership team, as well as an organizational streamlining focused on improving efficiencies and driving innovation.
 
Mahesh Veerina will become Chief Operating Officer on October 7, and Doug Carlson will assume the role of Executive Vice President of Digital Content and Marketing, effective immediately.  Mr. Veerina and Mr. Carlson, together with Kanuj Malhotra, Chief Financial Officer, and Max Roberts, President of Barnes & Noble College, will report to Michael P. Huseby, President of Barnes & Noble, Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of NOOK Media.

Mr. Veerina will oversee all of NOOK Media operations, including Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, IT, Digital Services, Device Operations, Research & Development, Device Product Management, and User Interaction & Design..
 
In his new role, Mr. Carlson will lead and oversee Digital Content, NOOK Press, NOOK Marketing, as well as NOOK Media Creative Services.  He has more than 33 years of experience at leading companies in digital publishing, hospitality, beverage, ski resorts and real estate..
