Hard at Merging Bookselling Databses
LONDON/10/09/03—Nielsen BookData—recently merged with Whitaker Information—expects to meld the two companies’ databases into by the end of October. The new database is designed to become a central source of information and pricing for publishers and booksellers in the United Kingdom.
The merged system will save publishers money because they only need to send information to one source, according to managing director Francis Bennett. Ms. Bennett said Nielsen would be in touch with customers soon on the changes and their benefits.
Early in 2004, Nielsen is also expected to introduce other new products to aid booksellers and publishers, some of which were to be introduced at the Frankfurt Book.
Nielsen BookData has already announced the creation of Nielsen BookNet as the home of its transaction and ordering businesses operations.
