Nat Mags Hires GQ’s

Parviz as Publisher

of Esquire Magazine

LONDON/03/08/04—The National Magazine Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hearst Corporation, has named Maria Parviz, former associate publisher of CondeNast’s GQ magazine to head Esquire magazine as publisher.

Parviz, who served with GQ for six years, will report to The National Magazine Company’s publishing director Tess Macleod Smith. She will be responsible for running the business operations for the newly-designed Esquire. Simon Tiffin is editor.

Esquire‘s most recent ABC circulation figures rose 20 percent year-on-year to 69,193. For the year ended December 31 2003, ten of Nat Mag’s 15 magazine titles showed substantial sales gains, led by Cosmopolitan.
