McGraw-Hill

Reduces Three

Division to Two

NEW YORK, NY/08/10/04—McGraw-Hill Companies has whittled three professional book group divisions own to two to become more customer focused in a slumping market.

The old structure had been comprised of:

the trade group the Osborne computer books division the scientific/technical/medical division

The new structure will establish a professional division (including Science, Technology, and Medical) and a consumer division (including the trade division and Osborne unit). The Technical Education unit will be moved into the higher education group.

The changes are being coordinated by Brian Herr, president of higher education, professional and international. Managers for the two divisions have not yet been named.

In the wake of the changes, Ted Nardin, group vice president, and Brandon Nordin, group vice president of McGraw-Hill/Osborne, who also oversaw McGraw-Hill Technical Education, both have resigned.

A McGraw-Hill spokesperson said the reshuffling will allow the company—which has been hit by a continuing slump in computer and technical book sales—to be more customer focused.
