Margaret Ferguson Gets Obtains Her Own Imprint at FSG

NEW YORK, NY/AUTHORLINK NEWS/01/14/10–Farrar, Straus and Giroux will launch an eponymous imprint called Margaret Ferguson Books in 2011, naming the unit after the 30-year editorial veteran at FSG.

Ms. Ferguson’s new imprint will publish about 15 titles per year across all age ranges and formats. For 16 years, she has served as publisher and editorial director of FSG Books for Young Readers. Among authors with whom she has worked are Brock Cole, Alexandra Day, Uri Shulevitz, David Small, Sarah Stewart, and Judith Viorst. Under her direction, the division has earned the Newbery Medal and two National Book Awards as well as other honors.

The announcement was made earlier this week by FSG BFYR publishing director Simon Boughton, to whom Ferguson will continue to report. FSG BFYR will be seeking a new editorial director to fill Ms. Ferguson’s old job.
