May 10 – 16, 2010 Edition Kobo Enters eBook Device Market
AUTHORLINK NEWS/May 10, 2010–Kobo Books has entered the e-book device market with a low-cost $149.99 reader, according to the blog walletpop.com,
The new device will debut on June 17, but Borders is accepting pre-order now. The reader doesn’t have Wi-Fi or spot 3g wireless, but at $149.99 it’s a deal when compared to Amazon’s Kindle at $259 and Barnes & Noble’s Nook with a similar price tag.
The device comes loaded with 100 classics, but for those who want more, the user can just log on to his/her computer, download additonal selections, and transfer them to the e-reader through a USB.
The low-priced reader will no doubt put pressure on others like Amazon Kindle, Sony Readera and Barnes & Noble’s Nook to reduce their prices.
