NEW YORK, NY/December 21, 2010–The Knopf Doubleday Group will launch The eBook Insider as an ebook available free to consumers. The eBook Insider is a readers’ resource for choosing what ebooks to read by providing book recommendations, author “picks,” and excerpts from top books and authors. The ebook will be available free at knopfdoubleday.com/ebooks, amazon.com, bn.com, borders.com and wherever ebooks are sold.

The eBook Insider will including information on literary fiction, mysteries and thrillers, history, sports, and biographies by such major authors as Stieg Larsson, Dan Brown, Nora Ephron, Carl Hiaasen, Alexander McCall Smith, Chuck Palahniuk, Jennifer Egan, Lorrie Moore, Oliver Sacks, Bernhard Schlink, Jon Krakauer, and others. It also includes recommendations for reading groups, provides information on the latest books to be adapted into movies, and compiles a checklist of award-winning authors including titles that have won the National Book Award, the Man Booker Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, Edgar Awards, and New York Times Notable Book selections.

In support of the launch of The eBook Insider, The Knopf Doubleday Group is launching a major advertising and promotion campaign starting 12/25. Ads will be running in The New York Times Book Review, and The New Yorker, as well as online in Facebook and Google.
