To Release Book
On Personal Issues
New York, NY/5/20/2008–Grammy-award winning icon, Janet Jackson, will release an intimate chronicle of her lifelong issues with weight gain and self-esteem in November 2008 when Karen Hunter and her eponymous Pocket Books imprint, Karen Hunter Publishing, releases Janets yet-to-be-titled book. Written with esteemed author David Ritz and also featuring lifestyle changing tips from Janets nutritionist, David Allen, the book will reveal, in Janets words, what she did to overcome a battle that plagues many men, women and children around the world.
In her new book, Jackson will share the exercise routines, diet secrets, and tips from her trainer that helped her achieve one of the best bodies in the entertainment industry. But this is far more than a celebrity manifesto on becoming fit. Janet offers a searingly honest account of turning to food for comfort during some of the most tumultuous times of her life–from being taunted as a young girl, to her internal battles with her beauty and femininity and her desire to fit in. While Janets weight fluctuations have been well-documented, this is the first time she has been so personal and revealing about the causes and circumstances behind them.
People have asked me for as long as I can remember why I felt my weight fluctuated, says Jackson. I thought the best way to share what I have dealt with and deal with on a daily basis was to put it all down on paper. I think the honesty and openness with which I address what has happened in my life can help others who struggle with the same thing. I also think people will be able to see that Im really no different than they area woman who has struggled with self-esteem and who used food as a source of comfort.
Karen Hunter Publishing has acquired world English rights to Ms. Jacksons book, which will be published in hardcover in November 2008.
