The Houston Writers Guild is pleased to bring back its genre manuscript contest for 2014! Categories include: Mystery/Thriller/Suspense/Horror, Romance/Chick Lit/Womens Fiction, Contemporary/Mainstream/Literary Fiction, Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Steampunk/Speculative, Young Adult/New Adult/Middle Grade/Childrens (no picture books), and Nonfiction/Memoir. The entry fee for the contest is $20 for the first entry and $15 for all others if you are a member and $25 for first entry and $20 for additional entries for nonmembers. Each category winner receives $75 and a 20 minute meeting with the editor that judged your entry. All entrants get a completed critique form on their submission. You do not have to attend our annual conference to win (http://houstonwritersguild.org/annual-conference), but winners will be announced there on April 12.
