to Open Store in Cincinnati
ANN ARBOR, MI/2/11/04—Borders Books & Music will open a 21,000-square-foot store in Cincinnati in July. The store will be located in the Deerfield Towne Center shopping center at the intersection of Irwin Simpson Road and Mason-Montgomery Road on the northeast side of the city. The new Borders will offer Cincinnati residents a comfortable place to explore a vast selection of book, music, DVD and newsstand titles. The store will include a Cafe Borders that offers a variety of gourmet coffees, teas, beverages, desserts and light food items.
The new location will be Borders’ fourth in the Cincinnati market, including stores at 11171 Princeton Pike in Princeton Plaza, across from Tri-County Mall; 432 Eastgate Blvd., located directed across from Eastgate Mall; and 9459 Colerain Ave., adjacent to Northgate Mall. The new site was selected based on a variety of factors including demographics, the strength of the cotenants, traffic patterns, the availability of parking and the overall attractiveness of the site.
“The Deerfield Towne Center will be a significant retail destination in Cincinnati, and Borders looks forward to becoming a part of the surrounding community,” said Carolyn Bowman, district manager for the new Borders location. “The store will offer corporate discounts to schools, libraries and businesses in the area. Free events like lectures, author signings, musical performances, children’s activities and ‘Benefit Days’ that support local charities will be held throughout the year.”
Additionally, the new Borders at Deerfield Towne Center will offer T-Mobile HotSpotsm service, giving customers WiFi (802.11b) high-speed wireless broadband Internet access. Approximately 410 Borders Books & Music stores in the U.S. are WiFi enabled, including all stores in the state of Ohio.

For those unsure of what they’re looking for, “Borders Recommends” titles and reviews are displayed throughout the store, and knowledgeable booksellers are happy to suggest titles well suited to each customer. In the multimedia section, digital listening stations let customers scan and preview nearly every CD in store and view trailers of DVDs.
