2/19/07–Giant retail bookseller Borders is beefing up its new online book club with publishers’ reading group guides, author biographies, book recommendations and a variety of online and in-store features.
Borders and Waldenbooks stores throughout the U.S. will display four featured titles per month and offer detailed information both in stores and online for each title, helping to spur discussions. The first book club selections are: The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl, by Timothy Egan; Love Walked In, by Marisa de los Santos, Looking for Alaska, by John Green, and The Inheritance of Loss, by Kiran Desai.
The goal of the program is to help readers of all ages connect with authors and each other. Borders also has a new alliance with Gather.com which will enable readers to talk about and explore books in the online community at BordersBookClub.Gather.com.
