Aperture Foundation

to Expand Book

Publishing Program

NEW YORK, NY/10/11/2004—The nonprofit Aperture Foundation, an arts institution dedicated to advancing fine photography and publisher of Aperture Books and Aperture magazine is moving its headquarters in the spring of 2005 from 20 East 23rd. Street at Madison to West 27th Street in Chelsea.

The foundation will vacate and sell its 17,500-square-foot headquarters location in order to expand its publishing program to include more collaboration with universities and museums. The expansion effort will embrace a new series of books to be released in conjunction with George Eastman House, a nonprofit educational entity also devoted to photography.

The foundation, which began in 1952, has a list of more than 500 books about art and photography, and an archive of thousands of original prints and collectors’ reproductions, as well as educational programs for interns.
