Do you have a book with a copyright of 2024 that you’re really proud of? If so, get the book and your team who’s worked hard on it (author, publisher, illustrator, editor, designer…everyone!) the recognition they deserve through the IBPA Book Award program. Since 1985, it’s the publishing industry’s most established and recognized award for independently published books.

For our 37th year, the award is back and it’s better than ever. In addition to our traditional categories, we are proud to add 7 new categories which recognize excellence in books published by underrepresented communities:

  • AAPI Communities
  • Black/African American Communities
  • Disabled Communities
  • First Nations/Indigenous Communities
  • Latina/o/e Communities
  • LGBTQIA2+ Communities
  • Neurodivergent Communities

They join over 50 other categories, ensuring that publishers have the opportunity to enter their books in the specific genre or areas where they shine: fiction, regional, cookbook, poetry, children, coffee table, design, audiobooks, first time publishers, and many more. See the full list of categories here.

Winning an IBPA Book Award is an amazing endorsement for your book and publishing program.

  • The most established and respected award exclusively recognizing independently published books and audiobooks.
