Killer Year
Authors Spring
More Suspense
NEW YORK, NY/2/13/07–One has been called “a hilarious caper” and the other finds the lead character at a crime scene at “the wrong time.” Two page-turning novels highlight the spring offerings of the KILLER YEAR 2007 Authors. KILLER YEAR is that group of 14 select writers capturing the imagination of those who enjoy the crime/suspense/thriller genre.
Bill Cameron’s LOST DOG (Midnight Ink) will be released in April, followed in May by the arrival of Toni McGee Causey’s BOBBIE FAYE’S VERY (very, very, very) BAD DAY (St. Martin’s Press).
Causey is a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Cameron lives in Portland, Oregon.
In Causey’s book “absolutely everything is falling apart for Bobbie Faye’s life when she wakes up the morning of the Contraband Days Festival, where she is honorary queen…from her trailing flooding and falling apart, to her electricity getting turned off due to lack of funds…to her brother being kidnapped.”
New York Times best-selling author Allison Brennan (The Prey, The Hunt and The Kill) calls Causey’s debut novel “side-splitting, hilarious caper…a laugh-out-loud nonstop thriller.”
In Cameron’s LOST DOG, lead character Peter McKrall “finds a dead hooker in the park while looking for his niece’s lost toy dog. At the crime scene, he has a chance encounter with the killer, Jake, who panics and sets out to implicate Peter in the crime.”
Noted author Julia Buckley (The Dark Backward) says “Bill Cameron weaves a story of murder, human frailty and the frightening reality of coincidence…Bill writes a compelling, layered tale with graceful prose, realistic scenery and dead-on dialogue.”
Novels from the KILLER YEAR roster–most from leading publishers–will be released throughout 2007.
KILLER YEAR authors with books currently on shelves are: Marcus Sakey (The Blade Itself), Sean Chercover (Big City, Bad Blood), Sandra Ruttan (Suspicious Circumstances), Marc Lecard (Vinnie’s Head), Gregg Olsen (A Wicked Snow), Robert Gregory Brown (Kiss Her Goodbye) and Patry Francis (The Liar’s Diary).
These KILLER YEAR authors will have debut novels later in the year: Brett Battles (The Cleaner), Jason Pinter (The Mark), JT Ellison (All The Pretty Girls), Derek Nikitas (Pyres) and David White (When One Man Dies).
“The books are selling, the reviews are glowing, and Killer Year is becoming the name to remember when it comes to debut fiction. The outpouring of support from the community has been astounding, and we can’t wait to bring you more,” said Ellison, one of the KILLER YEAR authors and founding members.
KILLER YEAR has been embraced by the mystery and crime literary community. International Thriller Writers endorsed the group and implemented a mentoring program led by award-winning authors Lee Child, Jeff Deaver and Tess Gerritsen among others.
