An Authorlink Exclusive Audio Interview With M. William Phelps June 2006 Investigative journalist and acclaimed author M. William Phelps has just released his fifth true crime book, Murder in the Heartland (Kensington, June 2006). The book covers the unimaginable 2004 murder of 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett, whose unborn child was ripped from her womb as she lay dying on the family room floor. Author Phelps thought he had been hardened by having written about many true crimes until he wrote Murder in the Heartland. "The story turned me inside out," says Phelps in the foreword of his book. "To understand why this crime happened is one thing; yet to sit and digest this material for as long as I did made me realize that people truly are capable of just about anything, especially when driven by desperation." Here, William talks to Authorlink about the newest work and his publishing journey. Doris Booth
